I guess this is called, ‘working out my faith with fear and trembling’. I have discovered something over the short 13 years of my Christian walk – never put a scripture verse as a banner over your life unless you intend to fully surrender to its truth.

I did not grow up in a Christian home and much about my earthly family history is broken – that’s why my spiritual family is so precious to me – we are not perfect but we’ve been adopted and welcomed into the family of a Father who is.

I am learning to love like Jesus but I still mess up a lot. I am thankful for God’s grace and forgiveness and the encouragement He gives me to carry on… and the strength that He imparts to me when I ask for it and fully surrender myself to Him.

My prayer for this retreat is that women would realize that there is more…so much more! If God created the universe and everything in it, including you and me then how much more is He longing to do through us, His beloved children, if we would just call on Him to live and move and have His way in our lives? We may have life but what would it look like to have life to the fullest?! I want to know!! Don’t you?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Kristi Gringhuis” tab_id=”1490069595392-b9323d4b-b511″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”291″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Kristi has been married to her best friend and love of her life, Scott, for 16 years, and they have been blessed with 3 amazing kids: Emma, Olivia and Isaac. She works at Grindstone Church in Waterdown as the Worship Arts Coordinator, and is so thankful for her flexible schedule so that she can be home with her kids, volunteer at their schools, and also teach some piano lessons on the side, as well as finding some time to have some coffee/tea/latte dates with her friends.

Kristi had an amazing Christian family growing up, and her parents were both very involved in their local church, and she and her 2 younger sisters were encouraged to do the same. Kristi started singing solos at a young age, and then accompanied the congregation on the piano alongside the church’s organist. When she was a teenager, she worked at a Christian camp and had the privilege of being part of the worship team. Ever since then, she’s been involved in one way or another with worship teams, whether it was with “Church-In-The-Box” at Redeemer University, or with her church. She never would have imagined leading a team until a pastor at her church encouraged her to try. Even though the thought terrified her, she gave it a try, and she’s been doing it ever since. Because of this, Kristi wants to encourage other people to use their gifts, even when they don’t see it in themselves.

Kristi is excited about her relationship with God, and continues to learn what it means to be a true worshipper. She LOVES being in a room with others, lifting their voices together in song to their Heavenly Father, but she knows that worship is not just about that. Whether it’s helping her family at home, getting to know her neighbours or other parents at her kids’ schools, serving lunch to those who need a “helping hand”, or serving and loving her church, it’s all worship, and she’s so thankful for the opportunities that God has given her to do just that.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Jeanette Hunter” tab_id=”1490069833229-814deb7f-9cea”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”289″ img_size=”full” alignment=”right”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]I have so much to be thankful for. I am the very proud mother of three amazing adult children; the “Ga” to five wonderfully adoring grandkids; and the eldest of six siblings (and we all still get along). I have five best friends (soulmates) and a slew of fantastic, fierce girlfriends that have helped hold me together over the years!!!

I have been a woman of faith since I was 18. I would love to say life has been easy – it hasn’t!!! BUT, Jesus has been in it ALL!!! I’ve been divorced for 9 years now and that was the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me!! I know I have to share this part of my story. I hope and pray that God can use me to help those of you who are going through or have gone through painful loss. He has been with me through it ALL…in ways that I never thought imaginable. I literally fall into Him every day and I am so very blessed to be a part of this Retreat!!![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Jolaine Montgomery” tab_id=”1490069834416-f8240945-2dbf”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”297″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]I was born in a small farming community of Maidstone just outside of Windsor, Ontario. I was so blessed to be raised in a close knit family by wonderful parents. Growing up on a farm next to my grandparents gave me a compassion and love for seniors. I took Social Service Worker – Gerontology at Sheridan, which began my 17 years working with Seniors. I love my job and the people I work with everyday! In my spare time I enjoy time with my family, having tea with friends, and reading.

In 2001 I met my wonderful husband Andy, and after a struggle with infertility we were blessed with two beautiful girls. One of my passions is to encourage people to be everything God has created them to be. I love watching people’s lives transformed once they have met Jesus. I have been a follower of Jesus since I was 9 years old, and my life has been so much richer because of my relationship with Him. Through trials and tough times, He has always been my rock and who I turn to for peace. I’m learning everyday to listen to His voice and learn to follow Him.  My favourite quote is by Mother Teresa “Do small things with great love.” This quote is how I strive to live my life.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Helen Norris” tab_id=”1490069835684-03fa0d5c-852b”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”293″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Helen Norris is a wife mother Granny and lover of Jesus Christ who fumbles through her faith everyday. Soaked in Truth retreat came out of a need for there to be a place for Christian women to gather worship pray and share thier faith journey’s honestly with each other and learn that we are more alike than we are different.

She looks forward to opening the weekend by sharing a bit of her own journey and watching God move in the lives of everyone, including herself at this awesome weekend.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tour][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Here’s what some of last years attendees were saying…

“I’ve never been to a ladies retreat but I love how intentional you were about making speakers multi-generational. What a great weekend!”

“Came away feeling refreshed and ready to live life to the fullest for God. Thank-you to everyone who organized this wonderful retreat!”

“This weekend was an experience that I was not expecting. Amazing women from many walks of life, ages, stages. A lot of thought went into this weekend and I wouldn’t have ever expected to take home what I am through this journey! Thank-you to all you amazingly strong women for welcoming me into this space with you.”

“Thank-you God  for not giving up on me and for bringing me this far in the promise to keep doing a good work in me. I was lost before heading nowhere. Again no words. Came out of the dessert. THANK-YOU!”

“This was my first women’s retreat and I had a wonderful time away with a very loving and diverse group of women. Their stories and faith and message  to the group was exactly what I needed in this moment. God spoke directly to me through each of the speakers and I’m now feeling refreshed and renewed in my faith and  my energy. Thank-you for an honest and heartfelt weekend. I would be very interested in attending something like this again if you are planning to organize another event.”
